Iron scoop team of the round award

It is hoped that the award will inspire the League One side as it prepares for a crucial area final tie against Rotherham United – the team standing in the way of an historic Wembley appearance.

Boss Nigel Adkins said: “It is great to receive this award, which we hope will galvanise the lads as they get ready for our area final games. “We have enjoyed our run in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy. It has been a successful competition for us so far, but we want to kick on, get to the final and give the fans a special day out at Wembley.”

Johnstone’s sponsorship manager Sally Binns said: “Scunthorpe’s progression in the competition had been relatively low key, until their dramatic late show against Tranmere Rovers in the last round.

“Everyone at Johnstone’s felt that Scunthorpe displayed great spirit, determination, and no shortage of skill in dispatching a tough Tranmere side in the area semi-finals, so we are delighted to be presenting the team with this award.

“Hopefully it will spur the players on to perform even better as we look forward to the area finals.”

Johnstone’s. Bringing colour to the beautiful game.
