Johnstone's Paint Trophy Hits The Road

The Johnstone’s Paint trophy had a chance to paint the town red recently when it embarked on a nationwide tour. It was an occasion for footballing fans to take a glimpse at the 28 inch trophy which was created by Links of London, one of the UK’s leading jewellery and gift designers. Standing on a mahogany plinth, it is made of silver plate and will be handed over to one of the four teams who now remain in the competition at the Johnstone’s Paint trophy Final on the 1st April 2007.

During the week long tour, the trophy visited Johnstone’s Leyland Decorating Centres in those locations where the local team was still in contention to lift the prestigious cup.

Fans were invited to come along to have their photograph taken raising the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and to meet and greet players and mascots from their team. There was also the chance of winning a pair of home tickets to the quarter final match involving their team. The names of everyone who visited the store were placed into the trophy and winners were drawn at random at the end of each day.

Teresa Quinn, sponsorship manager for Johnstone's Paints said: “We’re determined to share our sponsorship with as many fans and customers as possible and we thought what better way to do that than let them meet their team and see the brand new trophy. We were overwhelmed with the response we had on the tour dates, it’s so good to see fans getting behind their team and supporting local football.”
